N.J. Man Found Asleep At The Wheel In Pearl River Charged With DWI
Police: Car was parked in southbound traffic lane on Route 304.
A New Jersey man found asleep at the wheel of a car stopped on Route 304 in Pearl River Sunday night is charged with driving while intoxicated, according to Orangetown police.
Yoshu Ortiz, 22, of Westwood, NJ, was arrested at 9:37 p.m. after he was found in a car along Route 304 at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue. Police said they had received a report of a car parked in a traffic lane.
Police said that when town officers woke Ortiz up he appeared to be intoxicated. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Ortiz was taken to Orangetown police headquarters in Orangeburg and later released pending a Feb. 21 hearing in Town Court in Orangeburg.
