Orangetown Substance Abuse Committee Honors Contributors

Three Pearl River High School students were among those honored by the Orangetown Substance Abuse Committee Tuesday.

The Orangetown Substance Abuse Committee honored Pearl River High School students Caitlin Kenny, Pat Brosnan and Claire Greenwood at Tuesday's town board meeting.

The committee also honored its two student members from Tappan Zee High School -- Devona Paul and Caroline Russo -- along with Maria DeSimone from the Rockland County District Attorney's office, Detective John Antonucci, Orangetown Youth Court Director and Police Det. Pete Maher and Substance Abuse Committee member Ann Marie Hahr.

"It‘s very important to get key people on committee," Councilman Denis Troy said. "You get somebody like Ann Marie Hahr, who knows a lot of peole in the school districts or an Eddie O’Dea, who is like an energizer bunny rabbitg. They get other people to volunteer. They get other people to do good things. This town is very lucky to have both of them.  We thank all of the volunteers on the committee. It’s an excellent committee. We thank law enforcment and the DA’s office for all they do."
