Pearl River High School Presents 'The Pajama Game' in April

Pearl River students will perform the musical comedy in April 19 and 20 at 7 p.m., with a special preview for senior citizens 3:30 p.m. April 18.

Pearl River High School students will take the stage for three days in April to perfrom the musical comedy, "The Pajama Game."

Tickets cost $10 at the door. There are shows April 19 and 20 at 7 p.m. with a special preview for Pearl River senior citizens at 3:30 p.m. April 18.

"The Pajama Game" is based on the comic novel Seven and a Half Cents, written by Richard Bissell. Bissell and George Abbott wrote the play about labor relations with music and lyrics by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross.

The play tells the story of an impending strike by workers at the Sleep-Tite pajama factory, who are asking for a raise of seven and a half cents per hour. In the Pearl River production, Sarah Sharrin plays Babe Williams, spokesperson for the workers. Luke Accetta plays Sid Sorokin, the factory superintendent. Sid and Babe develop a romance despite being on opposite sides of the dispute.

The original play had its run on Broadway in 1954 and was released as a movie starring Doris Day in 1957. The play has been revived twice, in 1973 and 2006.
