More Snow Expected, Orangetown Honoring Emergency Responders

Each day, Patch provides the nuts and bolts of local happenings with our five-bullet local dispatch.

1) There is more snow in the forecast for Tuesday, primarily in the morning, with two to four inches expected to fall. The high temperature is projected to only reach 30 degrees.

2) The Rockland County Legislature open its 7 p.m. meeting with a public hearing on “Best Value Award Methodology” for purchase contracts.  The proposed local law is based on state amended in January 2013, which allows local government to look at other criteria beside price when purchasing goods and services. The legislature will consider action on any budget vetoes issued by the county executive. The Rockland County Legislature meets at 11 New Hempstead Road in New City.

3) The Orangetown Town Council will honor local firefighters for their work in dealing with the Clausland Mountain fire and recognize Orangetown Police award winners as part a regular town board meeting 7:30 p.m. at Orangetown Town Hall in Orangeburg.

4) This story about County Exec-Elect Ed Day asking the state Education Commissioner to make East Ramapo ditch its law firm was the most-read post on Patch yesterday.

5) Donna Schmidt shared pictures and details of a reception last week at Blue Hill Plaza for those who made Project Joy and the Homeless Shoe Drive happen this year last week. Check it out the details here.
