Armed Forces Appreciation Bowl

Two local high school football teams have chosen to add meaning to their last football game of the 2013 Season. In addition to capping off solid winning seasons (both teams currently 5-3), The Albertus Magnus Falcons and Irvington Bulldogs have chosen to name their final game, "The Armed Forces Appreciation Bowl". The game will be tomorrow November 2nd with kickoff at 2:30 at Albertus Magnus High School. The game has been named to show our appreciation to the brave men and women of the Armed forces and to regard the great Veterans who have served.  The proceeds of tomorrow’s game will be given to the Wounded Warriors Foundation.  The coaches, Mike Oliva of Irvington High School and Paul Villanueva of Albertus Magnus High School share a common admiration for the men and women who sacrifice their lives for our freedom. Each coaching staff has stressed the importance for  the players  to understand how much the servicemen and women and their families sacrifice for them. The Magnus players have rallied around one of their own players, Gabe Shaw, a senior player on the team who has already committed to the United States Army. Shaw will be an honorary captain for the game and will be accompanied by military personnel for the coin toss and a Flag presentation. Each team will wear red, white and blue helmet decals to further honor our brave military personnel. T-shirts will also be worn by both teams and available for all fans in attendance commemorating this first time Bowl game and event at Albertus Magnus. Please  come and show your support!
