Community Corner

October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month at THE GYM

THE GYM, a complete lifestyle and fitness center, honored Breast Cancer Awareness Month with fundraising events at its two Bergen County locations. THE GYM raised $4,326 for the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation, a local charity that funds breakthrough research to support the discovery of promising new treatments for patients with triple negative breast cancer (TNBC), as well as programs and services benefitting patients with TNBC.  Triple negative tumors generally do not respond to receptor-targeted treatment, can be particularly aggressive, and are more likely to recur than other subtypes of breast cancer.

“We are incredibly thankful to THE GYM and its members for their efforts and support this past October.  By spearheading this month-long event, THE GYM once again demonstrated its dedication to the community and helped raise funds for research, programs and services benefitting women and families battling triple negative breast cancer,” said Hayley Dinerman, Acting Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation.

THE GYM of Montvale hosted a month-long raffle open to members and guests. Raffle partners include F. Silverman Jewelers, Fire & Oak, Peppercorns, Blue Ribbon Tavern, ela rae New York City, Garota Carioca, and Athleta.

“We appreciate the support of our members and raffle partners,” said Montvale General Manager, Juls Kennish. “We were thrilled to be a part of this successful fundraising effort and to help raise funds for an important local charity and cause.”

THE GYM of Englewood scheduled a series of fundraising events, including a special three instructor dance class, spin class and a trainer push-up contest.

Nurit Chasman, Group Fitness Director, and Victoria Holmes, General Manager, in Englewood, stated “We are honored to have participated and are thankful to our members for their support. We also want to give a special thanks to our Group Fitness Instructors: Hila Riva, Cat Veca, Chris Santamaria, Shira Kraft, Jen Brunet and Naftali Abenaim.”
