Community Corner

The Annual National Association On Mental Illness's Awards Celebration

Happily many of Orangetown's leading citizens joined Piermont resident, Rena Finklelstein, the organization's President, to honor the New York State Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research in Orangeburg and Orangetown's County Legislator John Murphy of Pearl River, the President of the Rockland Psychiatric Center's Board of Visitors and Loeb House, headquartered in Pearl River.  And just some of the town folks in attendance were Orangetown Councilman Denis Troy of Pearl River, the beloved Didi Conn [Grease's French] and her husband David Shire, a Oscar&Grammy winner/Tony&Emmy nominee, of Piermont and Denis O'Donnell of Pearl River.  After the dinner John Murphy spoke of his pride in the wonderful relationship between Pearl River and the Rockland psychiatric center and Nathan Kline Institute. "Pearl River is a community guided by the nobleness of compassion" said John.
