For the parents and caregivers out there, that means lots of shopping for notebooks, backpacks, laptops and locker decor in the next few weeks.
On average, folks with kids in grades K-12 will spend $688.62 on back-to-school supplies this year, according to a survey by the National Retail Foundation. That's up from the average of $603.63 last year, the NRF reports.
