Check Out Pig Roast, Paintball, New City Street Fair

Gerry Nevins Foundation Pig Roast (Tappan)
Where and When: German Masonic Park, 89 Western Highway, in Tappan; Sunday, September 4th from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Details: Marie Nevins lost her husband, Gerry, to the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center. He was a New York City firefighter, assigned to Rescue 1 in Manhattan. She and some friends established The Gerry Nevins Foundation, a not-for-profit foundation that helps recently widowed parents in Rockland or Orange County with dependent children under 21 pay their rent or mortgage for three months. This event is the foundation’s major fundraiser featuring an old-fashioned neighborhood picnic with food and plenty of kid-friendly activities, including games, raffles, crafts and face-painting.
Pricing: In advance: $100 per family (2 adults, 2 children); $50 for adults and $25 for children; Payment on the day of event: $60 per adult and $35 per child. Order your advance tickets online at www.gerrynevins.org. 

Back-to-School Concert (Stony Point)
Where and When: Riverfront Park, 74 East Main Street in Stony Point; Wednesday, August 31 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Details: Bring the kids to join a party under the sea with SpongeBob SquarePants at this back-to-school themed concert. Call 845-786-2716 to confirm.

New City Street Fair  (New City)
Where and When: South Main Street and Congers Road by the courthouse in New City; Sunday, September 4th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Details: Presented by the New City Chamber of Commerce, there will be entertainment, rides, games, food, vendors, live music and inflatables for kids of all ages and their families to enjoy. Rain or shine.

X-Battle: Paintball without the Pain(t) (Blauvelt)
Where and When: The Sports Place at 600 Bradley Parkway in Blauvelt; Tuesday, September 6th at 6:00 p.m.
Details: Described as “safe and fun for kids and adults of all ages,” it is paintball fun without the stinging pain of defeat.
Pricing: Call 845.358.4263 for pricing and to reserve a spot.

I’m After Me: A Light Installation by Christine Sciulli at Hopper House Art Center (Nyack)
Where and When: The Hopper House located at 82 North Broadway in Nyack; Thursday, September 1 through Sunday, September 11 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Details: Children of all ages will enjoy this spectacular light show and installation that pays tribute to artist Edward Hopper in his actual childhood home.  
Pricing: Free for children and students; Members: Free;Adults: $5 and Seniors: $3.
