Pearl River Chamber of Commerce Easter Egg Hunt 2011

Why Go? Sponsored by the Pearl River Chamber of Commerce and Diviny & Merchant PC, this is an egg-cellent way to spend a Sunday with your family. This fun event promises to be one that kids, both big and small, will enjoy.

Seventh Annual Lt. John G. Bellew Memorial 5K Run
Where/When:
Pearl River Hook and Ladder Firehouse, Central Avenue in Pearl River;
Sat., Apr. 16.; Kids’ race starts at 10 a.m. and adults’ race begins at 11 a.m.
Why Go? This annual race is held in loving memory of fallen firefighter, Lt. John Bellew. Originally created to be a Scholarship Fund for the children of members of the FDNY, the John Bellew Memorial Fund has extended its purpose to also provide financial assistance to the families of members of the FDNY and NYPD who have suffered non-line of duty deaths.
There will be a post-race party with food, beverages and entertainment. T-Shirts for all runners while supplies last.

Parent University: Ten Deadly Teen Driver Mistakes
Where/When: 
Pearl River High School, Auditorium, Pirate Cove located at 275 E. Central Ave.; Thurs., Apr. 14; Program starts at 7 p.m.
Why Go?: Don Schuck, an instructor for AAA, will give a 30-minute interactive presentation that provides parents with tips on how to help teens avoid these deadly driving mistakes with some best practices to improve judgment, knowledge, behavior and skills while driving. This program is part of the Pearl River School District’s Parent University.
Pricing: Free and open to parents everywhere.

Fueling Our Children for Success
Where/When:
Tuxedo Park School at Mountain Farm Rd. in Tuxedo Park; Fri., Apr. 15 at 8:30 a.m.
Why Go? Tricia Williams, Culinary Nutritionist of Food Matters NYC, will speak to parents about children's nutrition and tell parents how to recognize the best ingredients, understand nutrition labels and learn about healthy options for breakfasts and snacks.

Holiday Craft Class at Jill’s Ceramics
Where/When: Jill’s Ceramics, located at 180 Germonds Rd. in West Nyack; Fri. Apr. 15 from 3 – 5 p.m.

2nd Annual Fishing the Hudson: Spring Recess Program
Where/When: Beczak Environmental Education Center, 35 Alexander St. in Yonkers; Apr. 18-22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go? Kids, ages 9-13, can spend their Spring Break on the Hudson River aboard a 50’ Coast Guard-certified fishing boat with Captain Chris, owner of Island Current Charters. They can bait their own rod and reel while catching tomcod, catfish and striped bass. Set up and haul fish traps.

Nyack SpringFest Street Festival
Where/When: Main Street and Broadway in downtown Nyack; Sun., Apr. 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go?: This annual street fair is a pedestrian paradise with arts, crafts, food, entertainment and special events, all taking place within the confines of the Village of Nyack, which is well-known for its Victorian charm, great shops and eclectic restaurants.
