GRAB & GO KIDS PLANNER: Parent Discussions, Dollhouse Exhibit and a Winter Carnival

 1.   35th ANNUAL MINIATURE DOLLHOUSE & ART EXHIBIT

Where/When: The Historical Society of Rockland County, 20 Zukor Road, New City; Show ends Sun., Feb. 27. The exhibit is open to the public between 12–4 p.m.
Why go? This is the last weekend to see miniature artist Sandra Mirque’s work on display. Families are welcome. Open to all. Call 845.634.9629 for more information.

2. CHILD CARE RESOURCES OF ROCKLAND
Where/When: Jesse J. Kaplan School, 65 Parrott Rd., Bldg. 9 in West Nyack; Fri., Feb. 25 from 8 – 10 a.m.
Why Go: Child Care Resources of Rockland is hosting a public forum on how families, children, youth and the early care and education community are progressing in Rockland County. Discussion topics include: the positive outcomes related to child care, Universal Pre-K, youth initiatives, school-age care, family support and early education opportunities. Pricing: Free. A light continental breakfast will be served, and a children’s play area will be available.

3. FARBRENGEN AT
Where/When: Beth Am Temple, Banquet Hall, 60 E. Madison Avenue, Pearl River; Fri., Feb. 25 at 8:00 p.m.
Why Go: Farbrengen is a kid-friendly event featuring singing, songs, stories and learning about the weekly Torah portion, which teaches about the building of the ancient Tabernacle in which the Ten Commandments were stored. All are welcome. For more information, call 845.735.5858.

4. MODEL TRAIN RAILROAD EXHIBIT TRAIN SHOW

Where/When: at the corner of S. John Street and Franklin Ave.; Sat., Feb. 26 from 10:00 – 5:00 p.m. and Sun., Feb. 27 from noon to 5:00 p.m.
Why Go? Kids, big and small, adore trains.
Pricing: Adults: $5; Children: $2

5. CYBER-BULLYING WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS
Where/When: Tuxedo Park School, Mountain Farm Road, Tuxedo Park; Tuesday, Mar. 1 at 4 p.m.
Why Go? Suzan Sussman of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Orange County will give parents the tools they need to understand and discuss the topic of cyberbulling with their teen or pre-teen child and help them know what to look for and how to avoid this dangerous form of bullying. Please do not bring children to the workshop.

6. ORANGETOWN BASEBALL CLINIC
Where/When: gym; Sun., Feb. 27, Mar. 6 and 13. The 7- and 8-year-old clinic will be held from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m.; the 9-, 10-, 11- and 12-year-old clinic runs from 2–3:15 p.m.
Why Go? Program is designed for boys and girls, ages 7 to 12, to get them ready for the upcoming baseball and softball season. Teaches the fundamentals of fielding, hitting, throwing and base running. 
Pricing: $45 for Orangetown residents; $60 for non-residents. Register in person at Orangetown Parks and Recreation Office, 81 Hunt Road, Orangeburg from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. For more information, call 845.359.6503.

7. PEARL RIVER LIBRARY PROGRAM REGISTRATION FOR CHILDREN AND TODDLER ACTIVITIES www.pearlriverlibrary.org
Where/When: Pearl River Library; Franklin Ave.; Mon., Feb. 28.
Why Go: From toddler yoga and song time to storytimes for children ages 2-5, the Pearl River Library has free and fun activities to entertain children of all ages. 
Pricing:
Free for Pearl River residents. Registration is required, and there are age restrictions for some activities. Registration begins on Mon., Feb. 28. Call 845.735.4084 for more information.

8. MUDDY CREEK WINTER CARNIVAL
Where/When: , located behind the Pearl River Library; Sat., Mar. 5 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Snow date: Sun., Mar. 6.
Why Go: The Muddy Creek Carnival is an annual fundraiser event run by the Franklin Avenue P.T.A. This event is open to the public and offers games and fun for the whole family, including sand art, tattoos, nail painting, refreshments and raffles. Prizes are won at every game.
Pricing: Tickets are $9 and available for purchase at the door.
