Just nine days before she had been due to be married at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Pearl River, mourners gathered there Thursday morning for the funeral of Lindsey Stewart.
The rain began to fall as the hearse carrying her body arrived and became heavy as she was brought back out at around noon. Stewart's mother, Carol Stewart Kosik, sister Alysson Ruzicka and friend Jennifer Berger all spoke during the service.
Stewart, who was born in Nyack, grew up in Pearl River and lived in Piermont at the time of her passing, was one of two people killed when they were thrown from a speedboat that collided with a construction barge near the Tappan Zee Bridge July 26. Mark Lennon of Pearl River, who was to be the best man in Stewart's wedding to Brian Bond of Pearl River, was also killed in the accident.
