Parade Highlights Memorial Day Weekend in Pearl River

Pearl River's Memorial Day Parade leaves the HSBC Bank parking lot at 10:45 a.m. Monday. UPDATED with other events in Rockland County this weekend.

Braunsdorf Park will be a busy place this weekend even before the Annual Pearl River Memorial Day Parade ends up there Monday.

The 24-hour Honor Guard begins there Sunday.

There will also be a candlelight vigil in Braunsdorf Park and a short ceremony to honor the war dead of Rockland County at 8 p.m. Sunday.

John H. Secor American Legion Post 329 of Pearl River will start its 92nd Annual Memorial Day Parade 10:45 a.m. Monday at the HSBC Bank parking lot on N. Middletown Road. The parade will then turn down E. Central Avenue and proceed to Braunsdorf Park. Those not marching that would like to meet the parade should be at Braunsdorf Park by 11:15 a.m.

This year's guest speaker is Commander Christopher M. Senenko, a 1994 graudate of the U.S. Naval Academy. He served as Operations Officer on the USS Porter, which was a support vessel for operation Iraqi Freedom. He is set to assume command of the USS James E. Williams (DDG) June 11. A West Nyack native, Commander Senenko's honors include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal.

These are just some of the Memorial Day weekend events in Orangetown, which will include watchfires in various locations from midnight Sunday to midnight Monday.

9 a.m. by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9215 at Oak Hill Cemetery on North Highland Avenue, Nyack

10 a.m. by American Legion Post 310 at Veterans Park on Main Street, Nyack

10 a.m. , sponsored by American Legion, will start at Calvary and Main Street, New City

10 a.m. on Main Street

11 a.m. at , 7 W Prospect St, Nanuet 

11 a.m. West Nyack Rotary's annual Clarkstown Memorial Day Parade starting at Clarkstown Reformed Church, 107 Strawtown Road, West Nyack; Goes down Strawtown Road, turns left at West Nyack Road ending at the West Nyack Hamlet Green with a post-parade ceremony.

11 a.m. begins in the Riverspace parking lot on Main Street, Nyack and ends at Memorial Park, Nyack

7 p.m. at 8 Independence Ave, Orangeburg
