Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: A member of the track and cross country teams since 8th grade, 11th grader Molly Shine outshined the competition as she won the 3000-meter run in the Section 1, Class B championships in a time of 10:32.90. She also finished fourth in the 1500, helping Pearl River win the team championship. Shine will compete in the Section 1 State Qualifying meet this Saturday, Feb. 26, starting at 6 p.m. at the Armory in New York City. The state meet will be held March 5 at Cornell’s Barton Hall in Ithaca, NY.
Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: Molly dedicates almost all of her free time to running. Even when the coach doesn't call practice, Molly goes out running to keep herself ready for the next meet. She loves her friends, most of whom are on the track teams with Molly, and loves to chill by going to see a movie and shopping. She works at the local Dairy Queen, a job she loves due to her love of ice cream. She doesn't know what she wants to study in college but knows that she loves the Boston area and would like to stay on the east coast. She's not sure if she will continue running throughout college but says she knows its a great way to make friends.
