Coaches from St. Aedan's and St. Margaret's faced off Saturday night at Pearl River High School in the sixth annual CYO Coaches Challenge.
St. Margaret’s overcame an early deficit to win 43-33. The win gives St. Margaret’s 4-2 series lead all-time.
Proceeds raised from the game go toward scholarships and the two CYO programs. With the win, St. Margaret’s holds onto the Liz Houston Memorial trophy another year. Each team’s jerseys had patches on their sleeves honoring Houston, who died in 2009, and Tommy Scognamiglio, the 16-year-old Pearl River High School student who died last year.
During a break in the game, Cassidy McNeill was honored for starting up The Tommy Lollipop Project, which is named for Scognamiglio. The Tommy Lollipop Project raises money to pay for backpacks and tote bags filled with gifts for young cancer patients. She was also presented with $500 for the foundation as well.
