Snow Falling in Pearl River; Winter Weather Advisory in Effect

Updated with 1 p.m. opening at Pearl River Public Library.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Rockland and Orange Counties that will remain in effect until 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Snow was already falling locally by 7 a.m., with between two and five inches of accumulation expected. It is expected to stop around the time of the afternoon rush hour.

Due to concerns about snow disrupting arrivals and departures mid day, Pearl River Schools cancelled morning and afternoon Kindergarten Tuesday. The district cancelled all after school activities, including sports, but the board of education meeting will go on as scheduled at 7:30 p.m. in the district administration building.

Pearl River Public Library will have a delayed opening at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The Project Joy Shoe Drive Celebration and Reception at Blue Hill Plaza has been postponed until Thursday at 5 p.m.

The Orangetown Historic Areas Board of Review (HABOR) meeting for Tuesday was cancelled, but the Orangetown Council police commission and workshop are still on for 7 p.m.
