St. Margaret's Good Friday Procession Travels Throughout Pearl River

The group started at Central Avenue Field and marched to the church

The congregation from Saint Margaret marched throughout Pearl River on Friday as part of its annual Good Friday procession.

Starting at the gazebo on the Central Avenue Field, the group of far more than 100 people gathered to pray. A group of students from St. Margaret School then led the group down Central Avenue toward Route 304. Some of the students were in front of the group carrying a large cross, and the entire group was chanting “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom,” a line from the Gospel of Luke.

The crowd marched down in front of the Pearl River Hook and Ladder company, where they stopped for a few minutes more. The group then continued down Central, stopping at Braunsdorf Memorial Park.

After praying at the park, the group continued across Route 304 and up West Central Avenue, stopping in front of the church. The group moved inside, where teenage students reenacted the Passion of Christ.

Saturday night, St. Margaret’s will host a Solemn Easter Vigil at 7 p.m.
