Voters Approve Pearl River Public Library Budget, Trustee

Voters passed the 2011-12 Pearl River Public Library budget and approved Debra Garcia-McDermott as a member or the board of trustees Tuesday.

Pearl River residents voted Tuesday to approve the 2011-12 budget for the Pearl River Public Library.

Of the 266 residents who participated, 215 voted for the budget and 51 were against. 

The $2,184,198 budget calls for a 2.9 percent tax increase, though the number is a relatively small $7 per household, and maintains materials and services currently offered by the library.

They also approved Debra Garcia-McDermott t0 a five-year term as a member of the library's board of trustees with 211 votes.
