Cherish the Ladies to Play at PRHS

Cherish the Ladies is coming to Pearl River High School. This Irish folk band has been featured on CBS This Morning, Good Morning America, Evening at Pops, C-Span, PBS, BBC, and RTE radio.

Cherish the Ladies are coming to Pearl River.

Known for their Irish folk music and dance, Cherish the Ladies have been featured on CBS This Morning, Good Morning America, Evening at Pops, C-Span, PBS, BBC, and RTE radio, and have recorded 12 albums.

Their tours are formidable, including Europe, Asia, North and South America, and Australia. They also were honored at the Official Cultural Olympiad during the Summer Olympics in Atlanta as representives of Irish music and culture.

The band, which consists of Joanie Madden, Mary Coogan, Roisin Dillon, Michelle Burke, Mirella Murray, Kathleen Boyle, was invited to perform by ArtsRock, an organization dedicated to bringing professional arts and multi-cultural programs to Rockland County.

"Pearl River is on the map when it comes to Irish music. What happens there is incredible," said Joanie Madden, whistle and flute player. "I'm thrilled to be going back. People understand and love the music."

Cherish the Ladies will be performing in the home of the 2nd biggest St. Patrick's Day parade in New York State for the benefit of Breast Buddies Campaign Against Cancer.

"I have a lot of friends and people close to me who have had experiences with breast cancer," Madden explained. "I believe that its the little drops in the bucket that add up and help. And it's such a good cause helping good people."
