9th Annual Chiku Awali African Dance Extravaganza

Chiku Awali African Dance, Arts & Culture of Rockland presents their 9th annual African Dance Extravaganza featuring performances by community members and Chiku Awali's youth ensemble.

This year's performance will will pay tribute to artistic director, Jerry Kwashie Dzokoto who is not currently in the United States. The extravaganza will showcase excerpts from Mr. Dzokoto's unfinished dance drama, the Untold Mystery of Africa, with drums and energetic dance under the direction of Ms. Benita Roxbury, Mr. Morgan Greenstreet, and Ms. Charlese Randolph.

The performance begins at 2 p.m., however, there will be a drumming workshop with Morgan Greenstreet, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., also at the Ramapo Cultural Arts Center, 185 N. Main Street, Spring Valley, NY. 

Performance Prices - Advance: $12, adults; $7  children/students/seniors. Chiku Awali Members: $10, adults; $5, children/students/seniors. Please call for group rates. Workshops: $10 for one; $12 for two.
