River Drawings At Arts Alliance

New Works on Paper by Joan Harmon are featured at the Arts Alliance of Haverstraw through January 30, 2011.

In this work Harmon is charting the Hudson River through the duel lenses of Google Earth and our daily view of the river. Exploring her fascination of the shape of the river as an abstract form, the tactile essence of marks on paper, and the ancient art of mapping, Harmon is searching for a deeper knowledge of this body of water that we live on.

Joan Harmon received her Bachelor's in Fine Arts from the California College of Art and her Masters in Fine Arts from Rutgers University. She has received awards from the Florence, Italy Biennial, PS1 Museum of Contemporary Art and an international competition curated by Barbara Haskell of the Museum of Modern Art. Harmon teaches at the City University of New York, New York University and Ramapo College of New Jersey.

Regular gallery hours are Monday through Friday 10 – 5:00 pm. Saturday 11am – 3 pm. Evenings and Sundays by appointment.
