"STEEL EARTH" Screening at Piermont Pop Up to Celebrate Earth Day & Benefit Keep Rockland Beautiful!

On Saturday, April 21, 2012, the Piermont Pop Up is hosting a special screening of the award winning doc-series "Steel Earth" as part of its month long celebration of the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day, and to benefit the local environmental nonprofit, Keep Rockland Beautiful.

Environmentalists, special guests and ticket holders will have the chance to see the special screening as well as help support Keep Rockland Beautiful, an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful. Keep Rockland Beautiful’s programs motivate thousands of volunteers annually to clean up, beautify and improve their neighborhoods, thereby creating healthier, safer and more livable community environments.

 “Steel Earth” focuses on the removal and restoration/recycling of abandoned machines in the woods like forgotten planes, trains, boats, cars and antique machinery. One of the doc episodes was set and filmed in Rockland County’s Tackamack Town Park. There in Blauvelt, NY, Jason Paris, Steel Earth director, and Keep Rockland Beautiful volunteers among others helped to remove a 1976 Ford Pinto.

When: Saturday, April 21, 2012, the program begins at 7:30 p.m. for pre-event mingling, drinks and tapas, with screening starting promptly at 8 p.m.
