Keeping Rockland County Beautiful

Keep Rockland Beautiful will try again to plant lilacs all over the county. Former Orangetown Deputy Supervisor Eliot Tozer announced the make-up date today after rain forced the cancellation of plantings April 1.

There will be a planting outside the Orangetown Town Hall 11 a.m. today.

Play Ball

The Pearl River High School baseball team is scheduled to play 4 p.m. today at Tappan Zee. The Pirates had been scheduled to open their season Tuesday, April 5 against the Dutchmen, but the contest was rained out.

More Spring Sports on the Schedule

The Pearl River boys lacrosse team is set to play Clarkstown South 4:15 p.m. in the home opener for the Pirates.

The softball team will also be at home, playing Walter Panas at 4:30 p.m.

The boys tennis team will play Albertus Magnus 4 p.m. at home. The match was originally scheduled to be played at Albertus Magnus, but it was switched Friday morning.

Dancing the Night, Afternoon Away

Lincoln Avenue Elementary School is holding its Princess Dance 6:30 p.m. Franklin Avenue Elementary's Father/Escort-Daughter Dance starts at 7 p.m.

Some of the more experienced dancers in Pearl River will get their chance to show the youngsters how it is done at the 19th Annual Senior Citizens' Prom from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Pearl River High School gymnasium. The Deja Vu 2011 event offers seniors dancing and a full-course chicken dinner with support from the high school junior class, district employees and the PTAs among others.

Orangetown Patriots Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading Registration

The Orangetown Patriots are accepting registrations for Flag Football (ages five and six), Tackle Football (ages six through 12) and Cheerleading (ages eight and nine) through their website at www.orangetownpatriots.com.
