Danu Gallery Celtic Christmas Shopping Night Thursday In Pearl River

The Danu Gallery in Pearl River will donate part of the proceeds from Thursday'sCeltic Christmas Shopping Night to People to People.

Each year the Danu Gallery in Pearl River hosts a Celtic Christmas Shopping Night in early December.

This year's event is set for Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

"It's wine and cheese and crackers. It's a fun night," said Audrey Haley, one of the owners. "It's usually a very busy night. The women love it. We do a raffle at the end of the night for a gift basket that's a $200 value."

Haley said the event mostly draws women, but many bring their husbands, who take advantage of the opportunity to find gift ideas.

Each year they choose a different charity. This year, part of the proceeds from the night will go to People to People. Haley said they chose that organization thinking of the many people who still need help as the area recovers from Hurricane Sandy.

In addition to the free rafle for the Celtic Gift Basket, Aran Knitwear will be 20% off and selected silver will be discounted 30%.

In past years, other Pearl River businesses also participated. Haley said this year it is just the Danu Gallery.
