Father's Day Edition: Rockland Boulders Opening Day, Orangetown Batting Cages and Relay For Life Event

Father's Day is almost here and what better way to celebrate the man of the house than by treating him to a day at the ballpark or an evening at the nearby bowling alley. Whatever you decide to do, have a very Happy Father's Day!

Rockland Boulders Opening Day at Provident Bank Park
Where/When: Provident Bank Park, located at Pomona Road and Firemens Memorial Drive in Pomona; Thursday, June 16 at 7:35 p.m.
Why Go: The Rockland Boulders are playing their first series of home games this weekend. To celebrate the opening of the season, there will be fireworks, promotional giveaways and lots of fun for the whole family. This weekend, the Boulders play the New Jersey Jackals. On Father’s Day, kids who attend the game can play catch with their Dads and run the bases. Game starts at 5:05 p.m. on Sunday.

Relay For Life Fundraising Event
Where/When: Pearl River Central Avenue Field, next to the Pearl River Hook and Ladder Company. This fundraising event starts Friday evening, June 17th at 7:00 p.m. and lasts until Saturday, June 18 at 8:00 a.m.
Why Participate/Contribute?: Because cancer never sleeps. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing overnight event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path.

Father’s Day Storytime
Where/When: Blauvelt Free Library at 541 Western Highway on Wednesday, June 15 at 4:00 p.m.
Why Go: Youngsters in grades kindergarten through first grade will enjoy a Father’s Day-themed story hour, and they may also make crafts for their father or grandparent.
Pricing: Free

Orangetown Batting Cages
Where/When: The Orangetown Batting Cages are located at 82 Hunt Road in Orangeburg. Open 7 days a week: Monday through Friday from 3 to 8 p.m.; Weekend: 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Why Go?: Swing batter, batter, batter…swing!
Pricing: $2 a round (12 pitches); Get seven rounds for $10 or 16 rounds for $20. Call 845-398-2500 for more information and directions.

Family Fun Fridays at Pearl River Lanes
Where/When: Pearl River Lanes, 100 N. Middletown Rd.; Fridays from 6 p.m. to closing.
Pricing: Children under 10 bowl for free (Shoe rental not included). Children must be accompanied by an adult bowler who is 18 or older.
