You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Rockland GAA Robert McKiernan Memorial Field Day
When/Where:
Saturday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m./Rockland County Gaelic Athletic Association, 1 3rd Ave, Orangeburg,
Why Go: The Rockland County Gaelic Athletic Association presents the 2012 Robert McKiernan Memorial Field Day. All are welcome to this family-friendly event, which features the Dennis McHugh Tournament. The tournament is for players under eight playing in seven-a-side Gaelic football. Hamburgers, hot dogs and refreshments served all day. Proceeds from the field day benefit the Rockland GAA Scholarship Fund.
Events include: Dennis McHugh U-8 Seven-a-Side Tournament, games and races for kids, face painting and bouncy castle, youth and men’s hurling exhibition, men's football and sheaf throwing contest, RGAA Fundraiser and raffle drawings.

Thursdays Through the Looking Glass
When/Where: Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Pearl River Public Library Community Room.
Why Go: Through the Looking Glass is a weekly event for children entering grades one through three. Dream Weaving is this week’s theme, with Creatures of the Night with Eileen Stelljes coming July 18.

Why Go: Introduce the kids to Rockland’s most famous painter by browsing some of Hopper’s most compelling pieces

Rockland Road Runners' Women's 5K Distance Festival to Benefit Rockland Family Shelter
When/Where:
Saturday, July 14, registration begins at 6:30 a.m., kids’ fun run at 7:30 a.m. and race at 8 a.m./Rockland Lake State Park in Congers
Why Go: The Rockland Road Runners will host its 25th Annual Women's Distance Festival. This yearly run is the sole "women's only" event of its kind in Rockland County. The run/walk is held on a 3.1 mile course and begins at 8 a.m. A free Children's Fun Run for boys and girls 11 and under begins the festivities at 7:30 a.m.  All proceeds will benefit the Rockland Family Shelter, a local not-for-profit agency dedicated to ending domestic violence and sexual assault.

Dreams, Books And Magic
When/Where:
Saturday, July 14 at 11 a.m./New City Library at 220 N Main St in New City
Why Go: Ages 3 and up can come enjoy magician and ventriloquist Steve Woyce.

Family Movie Night
When/Where: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 13 at the
Why Go: Have a bored teenager? Bring them to the Nanuet Library’s Zombie night for some fun. It’s open to Grade 6 graduates to Grade 12 graduates. There will be zombie games and a special effects artist will be there to enhance your zombie look

Arts & Craft Demonstration
When/Where: from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, July 14
Why Go: AC Moore has free a Arts & Craft demo this Saturday. Stop by and learn how to make Quilled Creations Paper Quilling. There are also 220 kids craft projects for only $1.

Arts & Craft Make & Take
When/Where: from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18
Why Go: AC Moore has free a Arts & Craft Make & Take activity this Saturday. Stop by and participate in Wilton Cookie Decorations. There are also 220 kids craft projects for only $1.
