For The Kids: Purim Carnivals, Baseball Tips

Each week, we'll give you the info on the best family activities or events for the week.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Beth Am Temple Purim Carnival
When/Where:
Sunday, March 11 starting at 11 a.m. at Beth Am Temple in Pearl River
Why Go:
Members and non-members are welcome to take part in this festive fair for kids of all ages. Activities, games of skill and prizes for all.
Cost/Contact:

Pearl River High School March Madness Ping-Pong Tournament
When/Where:
Thursday, March 8 at 3:15 p.m. at Pearl River High School
Why Go:
Watch Pearl River students and teachers battle for the ping-pong championship and support local families through. Thursday is the final day of the three-day tournament, which raised over $18,000 last year.

Spring Training with the Rockland Boulders
When/Where:
Tuesday, March 13 from 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. in the Pearl River Public Library community room.
Why Go:
Players from the Rockland Boulders minor-league baseball team will speak with children in kindergarten through sixth grade about the importance of being in shape to play baseball. They will share exercises and batting tips.

Scottish Country Dance Demo
When/Where:
2 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 10 at the
Why Go:
The New Jersey Branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society will be at the Nanuet Public Library this Saturday. They’re going to demonstrate Scottish Country Dancing and people have the opportunity to participate and try it themselves.  A great program for all ages!

T-Ball Clinics for Boys and Girls
When/Where:
1, 2 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 10 at the Nanuet Family Resource Center (St. Agatha’s) gym on Convent Road in Nanuet.
Why Go:
Nanuet Little League is hosting free T-Ball clinics for boys and girls grades Kindergarten and 1st Grade. They’re offering three 50-minute sessions at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Space is limited so register ahead of time and claim your spot.

Clarkstown North Perform “Once Upon A Mattress”

Why Go:
Cue and Curtain performs "Once Upon A Mattress" at Clarkstown North High School. The play is based on the fairytale, "The Princess and The Pea" by Hans Christian Andersen.

New City Jewish Center’s Annual Purim Carnival

Why Go:
Bring your family and join your friends at NCJC's annual Purim Carnival with food, prizes, rides and more. Wine Tasting for the mommies and daddies to try some highly rated wines for Passover and throughout the year.
