Metro-North Pascack Valley Lines Return to Full Service

NJ Transit will restore full service to the Metro-North Pascack Valley and Port Jervis rail lines Monday, Jan. 14 for the first time since Hurricane Sandy struck the area Oct. 29.

NJ Transit announced Friday that its new rail schedules which take effect Monday will include the restoration of service levels to New York to 100 percent for the first time since Hurricane Sandy.

That includes the restoration of Metro-North's Pascack Valley Line, which NJ Transit operates for Metro-North.

"We are very gratified that our operating partner is able once again to operate a full complement of trains to serve our New York State customers," said Metro-North President Howard Permut.

Two weekday inbound trains and three weekday outbound trains will be restored on the Pascack Valley Line. These include:

  • The 7:59 a.m. New York State Express and off-peak 8:51 a.m. departures from Spring Valley.
  • Three afternoon off-peak departures from Hoboken, the daily 3:37 p.m., the 7:20 p.m. Monday and Thursday and the 2:58 p.m. for Fridays only.

Metro-North's Port Jervis Line is also being fully restored.

"The full restoration of our New York Penn Station rail service marks another important milestone for NJ Transit and our customers, the majority of whom commute to and from midtown Manhattan," said NJ Transit Executive Director James Weinstein. "Equally important is the progress we've made on the North Jersey Coast Line, which was among the hardest hit by Hurricane Sandy. Again, I cannot emphasize enough the tireless efforts made by our rail employees to restore service for our customers."
