New Salon Offers Variety of Skin Care Treatments
The Escape Skin Care Salon opened about two months ago on West Central Ave
When a friend from the Heads You Win hair salon told Sandra Floody she should think about opening a skincare salon in Pearl River, Floody considered it.
Shortly after, a space became available and Floody jumped at it. The space, rather coincidentally, was right next door to Heads You Win. And so a little less than two months ago, the Escape Skin Care Salon opened at 7 West Central Ave.
It’s Floody’s second skin care salon, as she opened one on Katonah Ave. in the Bronx back in 2002. Floody primarily works out of the Bronx location, but the Pearl River salon is run by Noelle O’Flynn, the manager, and a group of women, some of whom previously worked at the Bronx location. They are licensed by New York state.
O’Flynn said the salon offers facials, waxing, spray tans, reflexology, massages and makeup. She added that they do consultations to determine what kind of facial would work best for the client and what they’re looking for, whether it’s to replenish dry skin, reduce acne blemishes or restore your luminous glow. O’Flynn said facials run 60 minutes and massages can be 30 or 60 minutes, but they can also operate as a sort of day spa, and have the client undergo multiple treatments.
The salon also has a number of Murad products, such as moisturizers and other creams, as well as makeup for sale.
O’Flynn said the benefits of facials are that they can give you “clear, glowing and younger looking skin.” Massages have a number of positive effects, as well.
“They can relax you,” she said. “They relieve tension and stress.”
The salon has three rooms where the various treatments are done and two stations for makeup.
O’Flynn said that so far, the most popular treatments at the salon have been facials, waxing and spray tanning.
She added that they are offering a deal of $75 for tanning and makeup through the “dinner dance season,” which she said starts about now and runs through Christmas or so.
"It's a time of year when a lot of people go out for the holidays, or just to go," she said.
The salon also has gift certificates available for either treatments or dollar amounts.
