O&R Declares Storm Watch

O&R Utilities declared a storm watch with heavy snow expected Friday into Saturday.

Orange & Rockland Utilities announced Thursday that it is declaring a company-wide storm watch in anticipation of the snow expected in the region Friday and Saturday.

The National Weather Service has a winter storm watch in effect for Rockland County and the surrounding area from Friday afternoon through Saturday. 

In preparation for the freezing rain, high winds and snow, O&R is preparing its employees for electric operations, tree-trimming and overhead lines work.

O&R expects to upgrade its status to a Storm Alert 8 a.m. Friday. They will go to Incident Command System management, which means normal operations are cancelled and O&R turns its entire focus to repairing storm damage and restoring any lost electrical service.

O&R reminds customers to always assume a downed wire is live and dangerous. They should call O&R at 1-877-434-4100 to report it.
