O&R Reporting 19,280 Without Power in Rockland, Giving Out Dry Ice Wednesday

Orange & Rockland will be distributing dry ice from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at three locations, including Provident Bank Park in Pomona and the Bergen County Office of Emergency Management in Mahwah, NJ

Orange and Rockland is reporting that 19,280 customers in Rockland County are still without power as of noon Wednesday.

That includes approximately 6,800 customers in Clarkstown and 2,700 in Orangetown. In its entire service area, the company still has 36,200 customers without power.

O&R announced Tuesday night that it was revising its estimated time to get the power back on for 90 percent of the customers that lost it from midnight tonight to midnight Thursday.

"I've worked here 11 years and this is the first time we've had to do that," said Maria Pollard of O&R. "We keep having more and more outages coming in."

Pollard said the company has more crews coming in from Georgia to join the efforts to restore power.

"We will have almost 2,000 people on this. WE are hoping to make a huge dent on it today."

Orange & Rockland Utilities will be giving out dry ice at three locations from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The locations are:

  • Provident Bank Park in Pomona
  • Bergen County Office of Emergency Management in Mahwah, NJ
  • CVS Pharmacy in Greenwood Lake, NY
