O&R: Nor'easter Brings Additional Outages

Orange & Rockland continues to work on restoration of power to those who lost it during Hurricane Sandy along with new outages from Wednesday's snow and wind. UPDATED with dry ice distribution.

Orange & Rockland wil distribute dry ice at Rockland Lake State Parkin Congers from noon to 2 p.m. today. They will also give it out at two locations in Bergen County, the Franklin Lakes Fire House at 1 Bender Court in Franklin Lakes, NJ from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and the Bergen Office of Emergency Management at 286 Campgaw Road in Mahwah, NJ from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The nor'easter brought snow, wind and more power outages to Rockland County Wednesday.

Orange & Rockland reported an additional 1,200 customers in its entire distribution area were without power as of 5 a.m. Thursday morning due to the nor'easter, while 7,300 remain without electricity from Hurricane Sandy, including 3,400 in Rockland County. The utility company still projects that most of those will have their power back by Saturday.

O&R is warning snow plow operators to watch for downed wires. Rather than try to forcefully clear them along with snow, operators should stop and all O&R at 1-877-434-4100.
