Orange & Rockland Utilities is projecting the restoration of power to "almost all" of its customers by Saturday.
As of 5 a.m. Tuesday morning, 11,300 customers in Rockland and 32,100 overall were still waiting for their electricty to return. According to O&R, power is back for 87% of those who lost it due to Hurricane Sandy.
For those still without power, O&R will distribute dry ice at five locations Tuesday, including one in Rockland County and two in Bergen County, NJ. They will be at Rockland Lake State Park in Congers from 10 a.m. to noon. The Bergen County locations are Wyckoff Memorial Town Hall in Wyckoff and the Bergen Office of Emergency Management at 285 Campgaw Road in Mahwah.
