O&R: Power Restored to 95% of Customers

According to Orange & Rockland, approximately 4,000 customers in Rockland County were still without power Friday morning. O&R will again distribute dry ice Friday afternoon and evening.

Tuesday night, Orange & Rockland revised its estimated time for returning power to 90 percent of the customers that lost it from midnight Wednesday to midnight Thursday.

With complaints by residents and public officials growing louder, O&R announced Friday morning that power has been restored to nearly 95% percent of the 133,000 customers in its service area who lost it after the Oct. 29 snow storm.

According to O&R, the snow storm actually knocked out power to more customers than Hurricane Irene, which caused outages to 120,000 of its customers.
