O&R: 580 Rockland Customers Remain WIthout Power From Irene

Utility says electricity to be restored to most customers by midnight.

Orange and Rockland Utilities says this morning that its crews continue today to restore service to 3,079 remaining customers who lost their power during Hurricane Irene, with about 580 customers in Rockland still without power.

Most of the remaining customers without power will be restored to service by midnight, with the rest of the customers will get their electricity back over the weekend, according to O&R.

O&R so far has restored electric service to 116,921 customers of the 120,000 affected, or 97 percent of the estimated total customers affected.

As of this morning, Rockland County has about 580 customers without power. The top 10 Rockland communities with the largest number of customers still without service are:

Clarkstown (New City – 117) – 243
