Rockland, Bergen Chambers of Commerce Mix in Pearl River

Emmett's Castle at Blue Hill in Pearl River will host a mixer of Chambers of Commerce from Pearl River, New City, Nyack, Suffern, Haverstraw and Montvale as well as the one forming in Nanuet 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Pearl River Chamber of Commerce President Kevin Hardy knows the primary focus for any chamber is to help business within its town, but he also saw an opportunity for neighboring organizations to help one another.

That was the idea behind the Chamber of Commerce mixer 7 p.m. Wednesday at Emmett's Castle at Blue Hill in Pearl River.

"As president of the Pearl River Chamber, I see a lot of other chambers doing similar things," Hardy said. "We're all after the same thing. This is just to try to get people together to promote businesses in our towns and the county, to support each other's causes. Especially the smaller chambers, which might need ideas on how to grow. I thought it would be mutually beneficial for everybody in the county and the surrounding area."

"We each hold street fair events," Hardy said. "Some more successful than others. We probably face all of the same challenges. What I'd ultimately like to do is have a presidents' round table so we can get together and see what's going on and also have more mixers."

The mixers provide the added bonus of supporting a local business. In this case, Emmett's Castle, though Hardy said they would move the events around. The cost to attend Wednesday's mixer is $20. Pre-registration is available here: http://www.pearlriverny.org/joint-chamber-meet-greet/
