Tishman Chosen as Construction Manager for Orangeburg Data Center

Tishman Construction, who is currently managing construction at One World Trade Center and the new U.S Department of Homeland Security headquarters, will oversee the build of Bloomberg’s 131,806 sq. ft. Orangeburg Data Center in Orangetown

The firm, which is owned by AECOM Technology Corporation, was selected as the construction manager on the Greenfield site.

“We are pleased to continue our long-term, successful relationship with Sentinel as well as work with Russo Development on this innovative mission critical project,” said John M. Dionisio, AECOM chairman and chief executive officer, in a press release. “Our highly-skilled project team is dedicated to providing a first-class facility.”

Bloomberg L.P., a financial multimedia company found by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, is expected to spend about $800 million to create the data facility, at 155 corporate Dr. in Orangeburg, which should open in mid-2014. 

The project—which received tax breaks and incentives from municipalities and the Pearl River School District—is expected to employ 80 full-time jobs and create 250 construction jobs.

“This greenfield data center is part of a new build-to-suit mission critical project with a large financial institution end-user,” the press release says.

The facility will provide more than 7 megawatts of power capacity and will pursue Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
