Verizon Expanding 4G LTE Network in Rockland

Verizon Wireless will expand its 4G LTE Network in Nyack, West Nyack, Orangeburg, Pearl River and Spring Valley Aug. 18. UPDATED with local reaction.

Verizon Wireless announced Wednesday that it will be expanding its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in Nyack, West Nyack, Orangeburg, Pearl River and Spring Valley, effective Aug. 18.

Verizon already offers the 4G LTE Network in New York City's five boroughs, Nassau County and Southern Westchester County. The expansion will mean faster service for Verizon Wireless customers with 4G compatible devices in Rockland County.

"We currently offer the nation's most advanced 4G LTE network to over 80 percent of our customers in the New York Metro Area," said Pat Devlin, president of Verizon Wireless for the New York Metro Regon. "The expansion is covering key industrial and residential areas in Southern Rockland County and we're very excited to bring our 4G LTE faster speeds and a brand new line of devices to even more customers."

"It is a boost," said Brian Doyle, the store's president and owner. "It brings a lot of attention to the network. Orangetown is basically lit up for it now. It was no different than the iPhone coming out. It all helps at the local level. Traffic (in the store) does increase.

"The 3G will still be there. It is very fast where we are. The 4G will compete with land-line speeds."
