e-Book Bonanza @ The Pearl River Public Library!

If you stopped by the library on Wednesday, December 28 and were taking advantage of the library’s free wireless you would have experienced a serious slowdown in our network capabilities.

Over 50 people showed up to our “walk-ins welcome” e-Book Bonanza program and learned how to download e-Books to their e-Reading devices. Patrons came in with their new (and old) iPads, Nooks and Kindles to learn how to download library books from OverDrive, the library’s digital download center. 

This holiday season, many people received e-Readers as gifts and were happy to find that the library offered e-Books for the Kindle, iPad, Nook and other mobile devices. During the e-Book Bonanza, librarians showed patrons how to download materials through our new website and even in some cases, showed patrons how to use their devices.

Teen Tech Tutors were also available to provide hands-on tutorials so everyone who participated received one-on-one service to help them feel more comfortable with the technology. During the course of the day, patrons were able to download the books they wanted on the spot. The Pearl River Public Library already has close to 3,000 e-book titles in our collection and we are constantly updating to bring patrons the latest and greatest selections. There are also thousands of public domain titles available through OverDrive with genres for every reader.
