Freegal: Streaming Music from Pearl River Public Library

FAQ's about Freegal, the downloadable music service available at the Pearl River Public Library.

Can I get music streamed to my computer from the library? Yes! The Pearl River Public Library has Freegal, a downloadable music service available on the library website homepage? All you need is your library card number and pin number to get started. Freegal offers access to about three million songs. It is easy to do with no software to download or digital rights management (DRM) restrictions if you are a card holder with the Pearl River Public Library.

How many songs can I download? Three songs every week! When you are logged in to Freegal a download usage counter will be located in the upper right corner of the screen displaying your weekly allotment. Patrons are allowed three downloads a week and the download counter resets every Monday at 12:01 AM.

Is it easy to find what I like? The site is set up to easily browse or search for your favorite music or artist. You can use the navigation at the top of the page to browse by keyword, artist, or album; or you can simply browse the entire collection A-Z. Freegal Music also offers a collection of Top Download lists on the homepage where users can see what others have downloaded.

I have a mobile device. Is there a Freegal app? Yes, there are now mobile apps for iOS and Android devices so you can get your music anywhere right away.

Will I find the kind of music I like? There is something for everyone! Here are a few artists and titles that are popular right now:
