14 days to go....

When I started out months ago talking about the redundancy in the office of Receiver of Taxes, it was something novel. When I told people that I would spend four years ending this position, it was newsworthy. Think about it: I can't run for re-election if I've succeeded in putting myself out of a job.

It got people talking and it got reporters writing. Now heading into the election, we've managed to change the conversation again. The question is being put to the voters if this office should end after this term, and it should.

I have a message that people really connect with: Stop waste, save Orangetown money, and wind down this office.

The first step starts with me. My first day on the job, I take a pay cut and turn this office into a part time job.

And I'm almost there. Two weeks from today, Orangetown goes to the polls to pick the next Receiver of Taxes. This isn't an office many people know about, and while people have started talking, I have one final push lined up over the next two weeks. And I need your help to make it happen.

Won't you please help me make one last mailing to our town?

This campaign has come a long way in a short period of time. I've spoken with neighbors, to taxpayers, and to business owners. We've got our foot in the door, but now it's time to blow this race wide open.

Please join me in my final push to be the Last Orangetown Receiver of Taxes.

Best,
Chris Smith
