Nyack Car Show Benefits Veterans, Blood Recipients

United Water’s annual car show will benefit disabled or displaced veterans who need help finding safe and affordable homes, as well as to help lives.

Proceeds from Sunday’s annual benefit featuring classic, antique and custom cars, trucks and motorcycles will go to Homes for Heroes, while the utility company will also conduct a blood drive for the New York Blood Center on June 9.

"Volunteers from our employees' United Water New York Auto Group have been hosting this benefit car show for 14 years," said Michael Pointing, the company's vice president and general manager. "This is an important way to show support for Homes for Heroes and the veterans who have served our country."

The Classic Car Show and Blood Drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at United Water’s West Nyack location at 360 West Nyack Rd. Admission is free and donations will be accepted. This is the first year that United Water is holding a blood drive on the same day.

"Each day, patients in our region need close to 2,000 people a day to roll up their sleeves to give the gift of life," he said. "Without volunteer donors, our community would not have an adequate community blood supply."

Those who would like to show off their vehicle at the show can register with Jaime Lettre at (845) 620-3353. Pre-registration costs $12 and $15 on the day of the show.
