Pearl River Week in Review: Procession of Children; County Budget Veto Override

Sunday's Procession of Children in Braunsdorf Park was just one of many stories on Pearl River Patch this past week, including the latest on the Rockland Couty budget for 2013.

The eighth annual Pearl River Procession of Children brought the infant Jesus to the community crèche in Braunsdorf Park Sunday.

  • . Fairweather had been arrested earlier this month after driving through barricades protecting the Share Christmas and the Holidays event in Pearl River. 
  • for a June 15 incident during which he punched an Orangetown Police officer. 
  • Jorge Gustavo Paredes Bermejo was arrested for DWI after striking a parked car in Pearl River. 
  • The Rockland County Legislature voted to override County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef's veto of its 2013 budget. 
  • The Suffern Crowne Plaza announced its decision to cancel a gun show scheduled for the facility in March due to the shootings in Connecticut. 
  • Seven mayors in Rockland County joined approximately 750 more nationwide in signing a letter urging President Barack Obama to take concrete actions to secure firearms. 
  • The Rockland Business Association held its Business-to-Business Expo Dec. 17 at the Hilton Pearl River. The event had been postponed from Nov. 1 due to Hurricane Sandy. 
  • The MTA voted to increase bus and subway fares Wednesday.
