Week In Review: Helping Others, Moving Forward at Blue Hill GC, Sports Teams Rolling

A look at the past week in Pearl River includes local fundraisers, a new vendor and name for the Blue Hill Cafe and many Pearl River sports teams continuing their success.

Start your Monday with a look back at a very busy week in Pearl River.

This was a perfect week for a number of local fundraisers, including the March of Dimes Walk for Babies Saturday in Pearl River and the Useful Threads clothing drive to benefit Pearl River Schools.

The Town of Orangetown found a new vendor for the restaurant at Blue Hill Golf Course in Pearl River. Pearl River resident Emmett Woods won the contract and he will be changing the name from the Blue Hill Cafe to Emmett's Castle at Blue Hill.

The Orangetown Town Board also presented the Highway Department Awards and approved funding for Teen Screen and Project Graduation.

The plan for redistricting Rockland County was approved by a 14-3 vote.

The Pearl River Board of Education approved the BOCES budget and new board members for the coming year as well as 14 new district policies.

In sports, the Pearl River softball team remained undefeated with victories over Pelham and Clarkstown South  and Clarkstown North; but the girls lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season against Nyack.The boys lacrosse team continued to come on after a slow start by rallying to beat Stepinac.

The Pearl River boys golf team improved to 7-1 with victories over Nyack and Tappan Zee and the baseball team moved its record above .500 by rallying to defeat Clarkstown North,

Three Pearl River girls track and field quartets ran in the Penn Relays.
