Artisan Food Bazaar to Benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

On Sunday the 24th, 10AM-3PM, The OUTSIDE IN Piermont will play host to a selection of local farm-to-table quality food craft vendors and restaurants at their second Artisan Food Bazaar. During the event, gift certificates donated by local businesses will be raffled as they play the blues.   On that same day, Il Portico restaurant in Tappan will be donating 10% of all sales to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

The OUTSIDE IN Piermont joins together restaurants, shops and artists for The "BLUE" Event from 11/15-11/30.  Supporting locations in Piermont, Sparkill, Tappan and Orangeburg exhibit local "BLUE" art, offer special menu items with per-plate donations called "BLUE" Plate Specials, and other unique services.  There will be a special performance of the blues at the Turning Point on the 21st and a raffle at the farm-to-table Artisan Food Bazaar on 11/24 at The OUTSIDE IN. Many venues have agreed to play the blues this day in honor of Juvenile Diabetes Month to research for a cure in support of JDRF.

Over 40 artists will have artwork on display in establishments throughout the area at over 30 different supporting locations. Gallery profits from art sales will be donated to JDRF. Restaurants will be offering "BLUE" Plate Specials. These are not diet items but rather a focus on high quality, wholesome farm-to-table ingredients.  Peter Kelly, for example, will be serving Pan Roasted Skate with roasted pumpkin, black rice, and kale with a blood orange vinaigrette at his flagship restaurant, Xavier's at Piermont.  All establishments have generously offered to make a per-plate or percentage of sales donation. Service oriented businesses have contributed gift certificates. Pamaya Red, a hair salon in Piermont is offering $5 blue hair extensions for children on November 21st with all proceeds going to JDRF.

New York Times acclaimed Carter Calvert and The Roger Cohen Trio will be performing a blues & jazz set at The Turning Point on November 21st and donating a portion of CD sales. There is a touring map for the event and a website with specific offerings and exhibitor locations. Over 50 businesses contributed funding for the map as another way to raise money for the cause.  Posters and fliers will be on display at participating establishments.
