BORDERLINE FOLK MUSIC CLUB ANNUAL PICNIC, SONG CIRCLE & JAM

Hi Friends,

Our annual
one day folk festival, The Borderline Picnic, will be taking place in 2 short
weeks, on Sunday, August 25th from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 PM.  We will again be in our usual location, the
New City Volunteer Ambulance Corps (outdoors), located at 200 – Congers Road,
New City, NY 10956

As usual
this will be a FREE event.  Our theme
this year will be the folk & bluegrass music of the 60s.  We will have 15 performers doing sets of 15
minutes each.  One of the songs they
perform will be from the 60s. Another will be one of their own songs that was
influenced by the music of the 60s.  The
3rd song will be anything of their choosing.

In addition
there will be a one hour workshop by some of the older performers who were
actually there back in the 60s and part of the folk scene at that time.  The discussion should be very informative as
well as educational.

The jam and
song circle, a regular feature of our festival will be back again this year led
by the legendary Roger Sprung.

Gathering
Time has graciously offered to be our house band this year, an offer that we
readily accepted.  Mara Levine will be
the house harmony vocalist and Marshal Aaron Rosenberg will be the house
percussionist.  John Guth will be our
sound engineer and John Lippincott our videographer.  The guest emcees for this event will be Bill
Hahn, Michael Kornfeld, Joe Pszonek, and Jim Colbert.

Our performers,
who are all donating their services for the day are, David Massengill, Arlon
Bennett, Gathering Time, Great Blue,  Mara Levine, Jim Colbert, Steve Suffet, Anne
Price, The Levins, Larry Kolker, Pat Lamanna, Josh Joffen, Christine DeLeon,
Marci Geller, Maggie Seligman, John Guth, Roger Sprung, & Marshal Aaron
Rosenberg.

Workshop
participants will be Steve Suffet (moderator), David Massengill, Roger Sprung,
Anne Price, Josh Joffen, & John Guth.

The
Borderline Picnic is being co-sponsored by The Folk Music Society of New York
(Pinewoods), The Folk Music Society of Huntington, and AcousticMusicScene.com

Because of
health concerns there will NOT be a  pot
luck this year.  Instead, we are asking
everybody to bring their own food.  The
Borderline will be selling soft drinks at a nominal cost.  For those who do not bring anything we expect
to have a food vending truck on premises where food can be purchased.  The strict “no alcohol” policy that
characterizes all Borderline events will be in effect.  We will not serve it and you may not bring it
in.  Also, please bring lawn chairs or
blankets to sit on as well as canopies for shade.  As usual, we will again be having a 50/50
raffle.  We will also be having booths
for craft vendors as in years past. There are still a few craft booths
available at this time.

We still
need some more volunteers to help at this event—if you can help with checking
people in, signing up new members, assisting with replenishing  drinks & ice, relieving other volunteers,
etc., please let us know as far in advance as possible.

There is
plenty of free parking available at the school parking lot directly across the
street. Handicapped parking will be on premises. For those coming by public
transportation from NYC, the Coach USA Red & Tan Lines (Rockland Transit),
Route 9A bus leaves from Port Authority to New City. Ask the driver to let you
off in front of the Ambulance Corps on Congers Road which is directly on his
route.  Those coming by car should use
Exit 11 off the Palisades Parkway.

Although
this is a FREE event we ask that you make reservations so that we know how many
people will be in attendance.  We have to
prepare drinks, paper goods and portable rest room facilities for your comfort,
and those arrangements are easier to make if we know the numbers in
advance.  You can reserve by e-mail at
solz1@optonline.net or by calling (845) 354-4586.  You are also welcome to visit our website www.borderlinefolkmusicclub.org
