This year Cash on the Town does double duty!

The Pearl River Chamber of Commerce introduced the Cash on the Town program in 2009. The idea was to get residents to think and shop local. The program was designed to be simple; buy a gift certificate that you could then give to someone and they would be able to use it, just like cash, in several shops and restaurants in Pearl River. The concept grew with retailers and today there are 30 businesses in Pearl River that accept the town gift cards.

With the holidays upon us and the destruction faced by so many from Hurricane Sandy, the Chamber had a meeting and decided to use the program to not only encourage holiday shoppers to think local, but to give back to the community. So this year the Chamber will donate 20% of the certificates sold to People to People. The money that will be donated will not be deducted from the certificate in any way and the face value will remain the same. The money will be donated directly from the Chamber’s funds as a way of contributing to those who need it most this holiday season.

The local gift certificates, which come in $10, 15 or $25 increments, are perfect for teachers, the mailman, friends and relatives and they never expire. There are six locations where they can be purchased in addition to buying them on line where a fee of $4.95 will be added to cover shipping and handling. There is no fee if you purchase them at the retailers listed below.
