THE HIDDEN TSUNAMI: CHILDREN WITH AUTISM BECOME ADULTS…THEN WHAT?

The Counseling Honor Society of LIU Hudson at Rockland is sponsoring:

The Hidden Tsunami: Children with Autism Become
Adults…Then What?"

Susan Cortilet-Jones, a NYS Licensed Mental Health Counselor,
will discuss the "Hidden Tsunami" of adults on the autism spectrum.
Ms. Jones has been working as counselor with at-risk populations for 25 years.
She currently practices as a "Coach" with adults on the spectrum
helping them with the unique challenges associated with this population.

Her presentation will focus on educating graduate students,
professionals and the public about this often misunderstood and isolated group
of adults by differentiating the issues needs associated with childhood Autism
from adults with Autism (ASD). She says, "We are just beginning to
understand the needs of this group, but, are lacking in understanding and
limited in providers who provide direct services. "
