Helping Others Grieve: from Piercing Pain to Cherished Memories

Author and educator, Dr. Alfred J. Liotta, will offer two part program on the care of the grieving on September 17th and 24th at 7:00 p.m. at the Clarkstown Reformed Church, 107 Strawtown Road, West Nyack, New York 10994. 

This program for clergy, educators, medical and mental health professionals, and interested public will explore ways we can help others live through the loss of a loved one. Dr. Liotta will address topics such as; empathy, the nature of grief, anticipatory grief, the risks associated with grief, and healing the grieving heart.

Dr. Liotta is a certified grief counselor with the international Association of Death Education and Counseling, a licensed master social work and a licensed mental health counselor. He served in New York City schools for 32 years, much of it as an administrator He writes and lectures frequently on the topics of grief, death and dying. Dr. Liotta has been a guest lecturer at Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland, and at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. He is the author of When Students Grieve: A Guide to Bereavement in the Schools, which is now in its second edition.
