Pearl River Farmers' Market - Friday, July 11th

Come and visit the Pearl River Farmers' Market every Friday, 9am-2pm, through October 31st, at The River, 253 Ehrhardt Road, Pearl River.

MARKET NEWS:
We were closed last Friday but will reopen this Friday at 9 am. Our guest vendors this week are Yogi's Choice featuring handmade soaps and scrubs with essential oils, and Tea Tibet will be selling organic and fair trade teas.

Any child that stops by our activity table to make a craft will be entered to win a free t-shirt.

On our Facebook page we are highlighting profiles of the three farms that are the foundation of our market: The Orchards of Concklin, Van Houten Farms, and W. Rogowski Farm. Some of our customers have asked why we do not have a greater variety of vegetables at the market.  The answer is simply that many of the summer vegetables are not ready to harvest yet.  If you or your neighbors garden, look at what is growing now: lettuce, peas, string beans, greens. Tomatoes are still green and pretty yellow flowers are appearing on squash and cucumber vines.  Rhubarb has come and gone with early spring, and now we are seeing the last of strawberries with the arrival of blueberries and other summer fruits.  Today we can find almost any fruit or vegetable at the supermarket at any time, but they are shipped thousands of miles and bred to have a prolonged shelf life.  You won't find these kinds of vegetables at our Market; try some sugar snap peas or a special cherry variety and stop by the Market table for seasonal recipes that showcase these special ingredients.

See you Friday!
